SiNAB is pleased to announce the launch of V2.0 of the Defence Business Readiness Tool (DBRT).
SiNAB were originally contracted in 2019 by the then Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) and now Office of Defence Industry Support (ODIS) to build and online Defence Business Readiness Tool (V1.0 DBRT) to help small to medium enterprises (SMEs) understand what it means to be “defence ready” and assess their business against best practices benchmarked for defence suppliers.
In exciting developments, and launched this month, the new release – ODIS V2.0 Defence Business Readiness Tool (DBRT) is a secure platform that better allows Australian SMEs to assess how “defence ready” they are. The new ODIS DBRT is a critical step in an SMEs journey to potentially becoming a supplier to Defence.
This initial DBRT V2.0 assessment is a series of 21 questions that will tell ODIS:
- Where the business is at in its journey to becoming a Defence supplier
- What capability gaps the business might have
- How ODIS can help the business to become a Defence supplier
Features of the new version include:
- A facilitated journey that focuses on core capabilities
- New criteria for market understanding, delivery confidence, strategic outlook and product development
- A library of information
The original DBRT comprised over 100 questions. To make it easier to use, DBRT 2.0 has been divided into two parts. The first section includes just 21 questions, while the second part has been shortened and is now facilitated by a Defence Industry Advisor.
The ODIS V2.0 DBRT application was released on July 3, 2023 and is available for businesses to use now. It is hosted in a sovereign secure cloud environment and meets the security requirements that are set out in the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
It has been designed to align with ODIS’ business processes to help them engage with eligible businesses. This will help ODIS maximise the Australian Government resources available to assist Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to become “defence ready”.
To use the secure ODIS V2.0 DBRT tool, SMEs must have a DBRT account. They can either sign in with their existing DBRT account or create a new one online.
Once the SME is registered and has signed into the new ODIS DBRT application, they can begin a DBRT assessment.
